Too Late Poem by Michael Dunmore

Too Late

If tomorrow is one day too late
Then our tomorrow was yesterday
Gave it all I had, but couldn't stop it's ending
Thank you for this new beginning
I should've known that I'd push you too far
Now it's just me, all alone in the dark
Surrounded by shadows, I want to cry
Just waiting in the grass, looking into the sky
Next time, I'll try a lot harder
To make what I have last a little bit longer
Maybe then I'll be more cautious about who I pick
Perhaps I'll be careful not to make her tick
Till then, it's just me, myself, and I alone
Just looking for someone to call my own.
