Too Long Poem by Megan Leighann Cummings

Too Long

Rating: 1.5

For too long...

I've been thinking about the choice
To come this way home.
Across the crashing waves and
The frothy ocean foam.

Your words they haunt my dreams
Torn in half and broken
The expression on your face told me
Before the words were spoken.

They say time heals all injuries
But it can't heal regret
I try not to remember
But I know I can't forget.

I've been missing you for too long...

I guess it's been a year
But time, how it flies
My darkest dreams are full
Of your beautiful brown eyes

It's been far too long
Too long for me to bare
I want you, must have you
Like the sun and the air.

It's just been too long
And I can't carry on
Darkness surrounds me
You used to be my dawn.

I've been needing you for too long...

Things are so different
When I'm not with you
There's no sparkle to the stars
The sky's not so blue.

I hear laughing behind me
So I force a smile
Sometimes I can even be
Happy for a while

But when the sun sinks down
And I feel the cold of night
It leaves my heart begging for
You, my only light.

I've been afraid for too long...

Now my life is rainy
That's not the weather's choice
The only warmth I knew was in
The glimmer of your voice

The pieces of my sanity
Begin to fall apart
I pray to the memory
Have mercy on my heart.

My soul's been crushed for too long.
