Torn Poem by Carla Johnson

Torn

How do you love me and still love your past
It's like you never truly wanted us to last
I'm speaking my thoughts as well as the truth
If you don't believe me here is some proof
We became friends than became lovers
Took it one step futher and became wives
Beginning a new journey in both our lives
I love you and always will
Just knowing you hold on to your past
My heart it kills
I tried and tried to compete for your whole heart
As you can see through my words we are apart
We can point fingers and say whom is to blame
In all honesty who wants to play that game
Life is a lesson just like school
You need to work hard at it and use all the tools
There will be days you fail and days you will pass
With hard work and dedication you will make it last
Even though you are away
I pray for your return someday
And if you do not return
It shall be a life lesson well learned
You can claim we are both to blame for this
But who would have known May 1st we shared our last kiss
