Touch Me Lord Poem by Marilyn Lott

Touch Me Lord

Rating: 5.0

As I was walking through a field
One sunny summer day
I came upon a weeping man
I listened to what he had to say

“Oh Lord, ” he cried in anguish,
“I’ve lost someone that I cherish
It happened so very suddenly
I didn’t know my love would perish.

He said, “Of all of life’s lessons
I was not able to prepare
My heart is surely broken
I need to know that you care.

We spent so many wonderful years
Our lives wrapped tightly together
All the years we’d built a special bond
Floated away like wind with a feather.

I’m not ready, Lord, to go alone
Without the one I love
I need to have you touch me
From your heavenly home above.

For you see I’m just not strong
The way I always thought
I was strong enough to work hard
It was something my kids were taught

But now my world has stopped
I don’t know just what to do
I’ll pause and take a deep breath
And wait for a sign from you.”

I walked away in sadness
And said a prayer to God
To make this man whole again
Be with him wherever he may trod

For we all will sooner or later
Find a time that we must feel love
From our God who once created us
We must pray for help from above!
