Tour Of Life Poem by Paul Olufemmy

Tour Of Life

In my tour of life
Within this earthly hive,
I've judged twice at just a glance
And seen daylight in the night's trance;
I've loved so many books just by seeing their glittering cover
And those with contorted covers, I never about them did hover;
I've been attracted by the colours of the blazing fire
To pitch a tent therein for my soul to retire.

I've been to so many places
And seen so many lustrous faces;
I have had to bulge forth my eyes to see a damsel
When basking at home through my window's lintel,
All these I have done
I'm uncertain that I have won,
Not because I know not my second half
Or I lack perception; a necessary eyesalve;
Nor is it because my eyes like questing
For what my eye is requesting,
It's because for my heart cravings
And my soul yearning,
I find sameness in too many places
All clothed with the skin of diverse faces,
So my problem is defined; among the various races,
Just which is right among the billion faces?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was written at a time when many things appealed to me. All seemed to meet the criterion I had set for choosing them.
