Treehouse Ii Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Treehouse Ii

I’ll be hanging up Christmas lights around this treehouse
even if it’s no longer Christmas, I don’t care.
It’s been several nights when I tried to kidnap the stars
but they run away and disappear, like pesky little kids.
It’s tainted on your lips, the exhaustion and tiredness
of our conniving story, as it stomps on with rude boots.
But come lay here with me, sleeping on this one night
ready for a lifetime together, with our friend the Moon.
Your heart whistles, in time with mine that drums loudly,
this is far too real to grasp, but it’s intact to my wrist.
Tomorrow the skies may never see light, or bleed crimson,
but I won’t leave your side, just girdle me, like you promised.
I’m not afraid to enter eternal sleep, as the cold bites my neck,
I’ll look into your eyes and disappear into your sweet mysteries.
The stars peep, glance, do a dance until they finally disappear;
as I fade to sweet slumber, dear Prince know this;
I’m never letting go.
