His name was 'Trick'
And he was the smartest damned cat
I ever knew! !
He and his sister 'Treat'
Had come to be part of our family
One Christmas....
No silly! !
One Halloween! !
While I don't recall the full details
On how they came to join us
And 'Treat' doesn't last in my memory
(Likely got hit by a car!)
'Trick' was without a doubt
An awesome old orange tom cat! !
Have you ever seen a cat
Jump four feet in the air
To catch a snowball? ?
(I think he thought he was a dog!)
And how many cats do you know
That will walk four miles
From a summer cottage...
Back to the house where they belong
Without getting hit by a car?
(Ok...so that's what my parents told me...
Do you think it's possible they just
Left him behind? ?)
Although I missed his perfect purrs
And all the wonderful stunts he purrformed
I'm quite sure that he was happy
When he retired to that farm...
At least...that's what they told me...

Dee, a wonderful story about what sounds a lovely cat. I'm a pushover for any story about cats being a catty person with three of my own. Top marks and thanks for sharing this my friend. David
Great write Dee. I have a cat and a dog and think they are both brilliant (well.. unless they misbehave) . Zen
Yes, but could he clean his own litter box? That is the one trick I would really like to see! Great story, Dee! -chuck
