Dee Daffodil

True Friend

Through my life
Friends have come
And gone
Driven off by one or more
Of my faults
Or just forgotten
By the wayside
Of a hectic
Everchanging life

But you are here
You stay with me
I stay with you
And though
It makes me wonder
When our ending too
Shall come
For now...
I'm quite content to be
With you
And you with me
Until the end...
My true friend

Great write, Dee! I really like the comfortable tone of the final stanza. Feeling comfortable is a definite necessity for true friendship. Well done! !

poet Emily Jane Brontë

I am the only being whose doom
No tongue would ask no eye would mourn
I never caused a thought of gloom
A smile of joy since I was born

In secret pleasure - secret tears
