True Individuals Poem by Francis Duggan

True Individuals

Much the same today as it was long ago
That most of us humans are tribal happens to be so
Most of us political in our ways why otherwise pretend
Those of similar ideas to us we like to befriend
The true individuals as ever remain rare
With most others they have little in common to share
For to join in group discussions their type are not known
One can say of them they have minds of their own
The true individuals do not yearn for wealth and renown
And to become loved and popular on their side of the town
None of their sort does wish to become a well known name
And most of them die as they live strangers to even local fame
True individuals are self imposed outsiders in their community
At any group meetings or celebration them you never does see.
