True Love Poem by erica wood

True Love

Rating: 5.0

When we first met you told me that we could only be friends,
When you told me, it took awhile for me to comprehend.
I found out that your ex had badly hurt you,
I realize you are scared to try something new.
From the rest of the world you wanted to hide,
Like a good friend, through your toughest time, I stuck by your side.
Sometime during our friendship I started to fall,
To win your love I would break just about any law.
For a long time I kept my emotions bottled up inside me,
Wondering how long it will be until I can set them free.
I want you to know that what she did to you, I would never do,
So tell me how I can prove that my love for you is true.
Give me a chance to show you that my love is real,
For all the feelings I have for you, I know that is how you feel.
No matter how hard you try to hide them, I can see all your fears,
I promise that I will never do anything to bring you tears.
I will be the one who will always treat you right,
Making sure there is no one else you will go to at night.
I’ll give you every part of me,
I know deep down that we are meant to be.
No one can love you the way I do,
Even though we know each other so well, everything feels so new.
You can look all you want but you’ll never find anyone like me,
And that’s how strong our love should be.
Here we are our love so strong,
We’ve been waiting for this happiness for way to long.
To have what we have I would never claim defeat,
Because together I know we are perfectly complete.
