Tuesdays With The Professor Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Tuesdays With The Professor

Rating: 5.0

She primes the participants
As if last day of their lives
Subject matter suiting her
And her eccentric student
She was never able to teach
But what a facilitator!
Seeing their strengths and weaknesses
She instinctively leads the group
Her student senses something is wrong
As if in social work practice lab
I delve into deep meditation
Intuitively recognizing
Her ceaseless excruciating pain
I can see her restrained tears
And feel need to comfort her
Asking her out to dinner
Is the damn right thing to do
We laugh and cry and share
Memories so special
I am mesmerized by her
And in this night's reverie
I pray hard for some more time
But it was her last supper
God was welcoming her Home

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is dedicated to the memory of Connie Cassis. She was my university social work professor. If she had not been brave enough to challenge the status quo, I would never have become an hypnotist. In my career as a clinical hypnotist, I had always felt her presence guiding my work. It was such an honour to have had her as a mentor. r
