Unasked Whys Poem by Sara Militello

Unasked Whys

Unasked Whys

Myriad unasked whys echo
through corridors of time
Careen off a gathering woe;
a culture of unknowing so long indulged
much is believed that isn't so.

Failing to ask why
and many times again the same,
reasons upon reasons up-spring
of unaddressed sighs that bring
a subtle yet risky claim.

Unwilling to ask why
more and again more throng
unable to ask all the whys
already unasked too long.

The big fear
of answers that lurk so near
must be that as fear grows,
so too do the reasons why...
