Under The Boat Poem by Belle Wassermeister

Under The Boat

It really makes me shudder,
being tied to this rudder.
If ever I am found,
they'll see that I have drowned.

Under The Boat
POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Bri Edwards and I were talking about all the problems Poem Hunter is having. Comments don't show up for several days. When you modify a poem, it takes about a week for the changes to show up. Sometimes comments that you leave NEVER show up at all! On the Home Page, the section that says 'Today's New Poems' has not changed for the last month! Bri suggested that all of us PH members are 'in the same boat', but said that maybe some are in first class, others in steerage, and others being dragged behind the boat. Hence the idea for this poem.

Idea well captured. Shudder not. You, we, are aboard and alive.

A true depiction of our experiences on this site. I hope Poem Hunter will address these problems the soonest.

Tony-Cemaluk Egbuonu translated my poem. When I put his translation into Google Translate, this came back: This is the knowledge of the trembling body, I am in the midst of my deep sorrow, Even though I'm gone, They will disappear in the water.

Hmm. Google translate did not get it right. The nearest trembling (jijijiji) . Nevertheless, Google translate gave us another thoughtful poem.

2) Bella, good to be reading your poetry again. This one reminded me of Dennis Wilson's tragic death by drowning. Top marks!

Richard, Thank you for your multiple comments. Wasn't Dennis Wilson's drowning actually a suicide?

Your poem so beautifully, and accurately, sums up your Poet's Notes. I sincerely wish that more poets read Poet's Notes. I have written a lot of poems that are NOT about me and have stated as such in Poet's Notes. Still, some readers panic and are assuming the worse.
