Under The Jolly Roger (Roundel) Poem by Gert Strydom

Under The Jolly Roger (Roundel)

In days of old they sailed on every sea
while they acted merciless, brave and bold
even drew their guns on the Royal navy.
In days of old

whether the sun shone or it was quite cold
they acted of civilization's values free,
sent their captives down to the deep hold

or let them walk the plank in merry glee,
while some did constantly curse and scold,
lived lives in iniquity that was to them heavenly,
in days of old.
