Undermine Me No More Poem by Raphael Sackey

Undermine Me No More

Stay down civilian, stay down
I held back once, I will not twice
No longer am I the bullied from elementary school
For now you will address me by title and not by name.

Stay down my friend, stay down
You mocked my training but never again
You've been to the gymnasium, I've been to battle training grounds
If you have not killed a man yet, don't claim a comparable training.

Hold your tongue buddy, anger me not
Even a policeman knows to yield to my training
For his holds no candle to mine
I will warn you once, so heed my warning.

My training had one purpose and one purpose only
That the day I first killed a man, I would not lose my marbles
That the day I killed a man, I would take it in my stride
What was the purpose of yours?

I fought a friend till he was bloodied
Till he lay limp and lifeless
And still I waited but a stop order I heard not
Till I was sure he had met his maker.

For days they kept me wondering
Whether, a good man, I had sent to the grave
Now I know what it will feel like
Can you say the same! ?

I knew and I was briefed
Join our ranks, and you join a body of aspiring murderers
You will one day, kill or give an order to kill
To break commandment 6 without a sweat.

In this brotherhood, we have each other's back
Protect a brother in arms, by arms or by lie
All for one and one for all
Condemned together, souls bound forever?

Stay down idle civilian, dare not rise
My brothers hunger to grant me aid
Stay down and stay safe
Rise and you will fall your last.
