Unhinged Poem by cheryl winter

Unhinged

Unhinged from birth
Or because of the pressures of life
Some human wrecks
Like shameless prostitutes
Lie naked, spread out upon the earth!
Some like frogs leap around
Looking for a meal
Something to eat
And quench their thirst!
Others jump about frantically
Looking for they know not what
Or where to find this elusive nothingness!
With minds unhinged
And eyes blinded by misery
These human wrecks
Cannot see the twists and bends of life!
Naked, helpless, rejected,
They move like shadows
Fearful and uncertain of the future!
Suddenly, driven by a compelling madness
Stirring in their beings
They gallop like wild horses,
Gradually slowing to a trot
And eventually,
Their movements come to a dead stop!
After a few moments,
Their bodies unfreeze
And fall again to earth
Where they lie
Shattered, revealed naked and unhinged!
