Unlocked
For all my life I've sought that special someone
Who would recognise me, wouldn't turn and run
Cloaked in shadow, my true self lay in wait
In you walked, a mere, three decades late
You stopped, you looked, gave a curious slow smile
I knew. Enchanted and delighted we talked a while
It's not my way to tarry in another's garden
And for this pleasure I begged a silent pardon
I am here, there, everywhere and ... nowhere
Too delicate, too wary my inner self to share
Together we heal and shine... we feel so right
Apart we ache and pine... so sad when out of sight
With venom striking, words slicing and me ensnared
It's no wonder I'm wound tight, running scared
You have given me a most treasured gift anew
I finally feel safe, but only.... my love... with you
