Unlover Summer (Part 2) Poem by Tailor Bell

Unlover Summer (Part 2)

Rating: 4.3

Honey hot air of the State Fair
Drunk on nectar wind, Apis mellifera
Pregnant with pollen and dulled instinct
Maneuvering undulations of the generous orgy
A gaping mouth, swollen, damp
Crowded in stocking camouflage
The wetdream of wolves
Picker in opposition, in zombie pumps
Scented beyond reason, howling desire

Between us a silent engagement
Her makeup working both ways
Normal life petrified through ritual
The impolite cowboy cakewalk
Intruding without apology, the music of Unlover
Left out, another empty chair taken
An empty heart at an odd place setting
She finds me as I find her...spent
Poised in the imagination of love

I've seen art in nature
The Lieutenant and me, feigning
Acceptance with still gentle hands
A fallen leaf, almost touching cotton candy
Sweetness turned around
Glistening vats for the fare apples
It was Sam wanted summers
That revealed our pensions, now
Unlover stirring the summer bees

I'm sitting here shaking my head! This is spellbinding. You truly are a class act Tailor. This is full of stunningly sculpted lines. If I was to pick out the best ones I'd have to copy the whole poem into the box. The ideas, the images, the language, the atmosphere, the allusions, the internal rhymes, the swaying rhythm, and more...all combine to make this exceptionally good. 'Picker in opposition, in zombie pumps Scented beyond reason, howling desire' That's me... just reading this! ! jim

This is meant to be read again and again...and savored. Very, very nicely done, Tailor. Your imagery here is rich, and your ironies strong. The title is the greatest irony of all. Raynette
