Unreadable Poem by Nick Downer

Unreadable

Rating: 5.0

Your face is like a blank canvas.
I long to draw life onto it,
paint some emotion there.
I long to erase the memory
of whoever sculpted it,
snow white and hidden.
Somehow I can see sparks,
of life down below,
far down
and I wish you could
exhale and breathe them out
as words, phrases,
to be heard and savored.
My own eyes have glimpsed
into your hidden word
through ink on pages.
They fill the blankness of the pages
but keep your visible canvas
still and quiet.
