I saw a man that wasn’t there
He wasn’t there, I swear
But then there he was, as soon as I turned to stare
Sitting upon the topmost stair
Looking, longing, obviously unable to bear
With his fortune, with has days
Then I looked closer and realized I could not see his face!
I stared long and hard, not caring for rudeness
When I realized, that it was my true love, equally full of sadness
Staring me in the face, unseeing, but staring just the same
Oh how I longed to see, to touch, to talk with the man that I knew would one day father my bunch
Then, I felt a presence
I knew I couldn’t stay
For we were not supposed to meet,
Not for many days
Oh, how sad I became
How I longed to stay
I just wanted to stay with him
Until the last of my days
I knew we would meet again
I knew the day would come
When we would share our vows
And even share a home
Until that day
I shall think of what to say
Until that day
I will wish I could’ve stayed
