(untitled #48) Poem by bob barci

(untitled #48)

The past is behind us now.
So, just let it be.
You were as you were
and there’s no changing that.
We weren’t saved from your emotional damage
but hey - we still turned out okay.
Let’s not harp on that,
as there were good times too.
You’re in my thoughts.
You’re in my dreams.
You both left this earth
so unexpectedly, just 6 weeks apart.
We weren’t ready to let you go this way - just yet.
So many things were left unsaid and undone.
It’s a shame we didn’t get to them.
But, who’s to blame?
The past is over and done with.
So be it.
We’ll keep some memories and discard the rest.
The future is here
and without you
we’ll deal with it as best we can.
