i hate everything about you
except your smile

those things you like
aren’t like the things i like
and liking you is
impossible because
i hate everything about you

except your eyes
and how they seem to shimmer
when they hit mine

but what will we do
when we finally sit together
and find the closeness that we sought
will our differences die

i hate everything about you
except when you accidentally touch me
i can’t keep from

crying in
awe
