Untransplanted Hearts

Vegans don't need
heart transplants
with nurses' constant injections
to fight infection
and stave off rejection.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
How do mammal, bird and fish flesh harm the hearts of consumers.

a. the animal fat clogs the arteries
b. the uric acid or pre-urine stimulates
rapid heart beat (vegearian hearts pump
the same amount of blood with 20 fewer beats
per minute... vegan hearts are even more efficient)
c. much of the adrenaline secreted by terrorized animals
and fishes remains in the flesh unnaturally speeding
up heartbeat
d. the amyloid plaque, byproduct of metabolizing
animal protein's homocysteine, gradually lines the
arteries
