Unwanted Doll Poem by Ariana Love

Unwanted Doll

A girl looks in the mirror
And says to herself
'I'm like an unwanted
Doll on the shelf'

***

Outside she looks pretty
And happy within
But inside she's sad
So fragile and thin

There's something about her
That tempts you to touch
But she's made no gesture
That welcomes you such

It's like if you touch her
She'll shatter like glass
But you work up the courage
To touch her at last

Suddenly you feel her
Shatter apart
From her head to her toe
And especially her heart

You feel rushing through you
The pain that she feels
You scream out in horror
At how this pain is so real

'I'm sorry! ' you cry
But it's already too late
You feel yourself tumbling
Into a world of self hate

Then all of a sudden
There's nothing you feel
You feel yourself drifting
Back to the you that is real

But strangest of all
Was the doll herself
Standing on the ground
And not on the shelf

Softly she whispers
As you stand there amazed
'Can you please help me?
My life is ablaze'

Eventually she would
Be left alone again
When outside the window
It starts to rain

***

A tear runs down
Her beautiful face
To her, life has always
Been a competitive race

'My parents don't want me
Neither do my friends
I won't ever be able
To tie the loose ends'

She'll be broken forever
She can never be repaired
The only problem was
No one ever really cared

I think the real problem occurs when too many people interfere with others' life creating the unhealthy competition...cheating... Nicely penned...thank you for sharing...
