Unwanted Fools Poem by Darlene Sierra

Unwanted Fools

You see that fool right there
Don’t dare go near
That fool is an unwanted fool
They’ll never understand
Tell them simple things
Don’t you dare say anything important
Let the unwanted fool find out on their own
But it’s okay to ask
Ask for help
Ask for advice
But don’t trust that fool
Don’t trust that fool
Keep everything away
They’ll never understand
They stopped with what we have not
They want something that’s out of reach
Silly fool
Silly unwanted fool
They’ll never understand
It’s fine because they know we’re right
Those stupid fools can never realize
What we have gained and what they won’t
Those stupid fools
Just laugh with them (always at them)
Tell them things you have known
Don’t dare tell them things that shouldn’t be known
They’ll never understand
For they’ve stopped with what we have
Those silly stupid unwanted fools
They dream of something they can’t reach
They talk about hopes and dreams
Hopes and dreams they can’t reach
But yes we’re different from those fools
We do things wrong that should be right
They’re the fools and not us
But one day, I say, as an unwanted fool
One day those who say we don’t understand
We’re just silly fools
Stupid fools
Unwanted fools
Will understand it is not us who don’t
Rather it’s them and they’ll wish
They should’ve known, should’ve known
We weren’t the stupid fools!
That we understood!
We have feelings too!
We feel just like them!
And we know what they say
And everyday some of us will cry
Some of us will break
After all aren’t we all the same
But one day, I say, as an unwanted fool
We will show you we understand
And you’ll be the fool.
