V Poem by Isamar Carrillo

I have loved you before, many times,
in other faces, other skins, other steps.
You were what I loved in that man's voice.
You were the beauty in that other's hands.
You were what charmed me from that boy's smile.
You were the salt and the truth in all their lies.
You were the memory that didn't quite leave.
You were the tip of the arrow,
and the accent in the song.
You were in those poems, the rhyme.
You were Love.

And once again I find you
but in the flesh. You swell and shine
and tower over their shadows.
With you, they stay gone;
almost promise never to return
and give back some of what they took.
You are harmony in my chaos,
and your words calm my thirst
to find that one other, that can be
but isn't,
me.

Interesting concept. Written quite well...although, I'm a little confused by the last lines.
