Valuable Possessions Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Valuable Possessions

During fire and flood there is destruction
People flee in a panic leaving possessions
Before escaping death and seeking protection
People grab a few priceless recollections

What would be the choice to carry and save?

Something that is not too burdensome or heavy
Threats lick and surge…no time for calculation
In spite of impending charring or a bursting levee
Irreplaceable family photos answer speculation
