Video Games Are The Cause Mass Shootings? Poem by Daya Nandan

Blaming video games for gun violence makes no sense,
When The US holds 42% of privately held firearms for'self defence',
Americans are less than 5% of the global population,
Yet have more gun related deaths than every nation,

About 30 000 people in the US die of gun violence each year,
How could one live there without living in fear?
Although 60% of cases are suicides and only 0.2 are mass shootings,
We cannot ignore the problem that has spread it's rootings,

In Japan you must pass a written exam, a shooting range test,
Mental health, drug, and criminal record checks making them the best,
And gun crime there has virtually been eradicated,
Because their government seems to be much more educated,

Japan and South Korea have more gamers than the USA,
Yet mass shootings are not a fear that they face everyday,
The lowest rate of gun violence belongs to their land,
The highest rate are the Americans pulling triggers with each hand,

Why allow semi automatic assault weapons there? ,
Why allow military.50 calibre riffles to be as common as air?
Magazines that can fire 100 bullets before needing to reload?
That is the level of irrationality that America has shown,

Do you need a hundred bullets to kill a buck?
So called gun control that doesn't seem to be having much luck,
The ingredients for a mass shooting is formed by poor control,
That is the reason for the massive death toll,

Is it not obvious seeing so many take their last breaths,
Easy access to firearms are the main drivers to the deaths,
And if you believe the right to bear arms is the best defence,
Then you are merely putting up a paper fence,

Slavery too was legal and well accepted at one point,
Does that allow some Americans to hold innocents at gun point?
The constitution is for protecting the people of the land,
And what use is that if that purpose is buried in the sand,

We are suppose to be protecting people instead of protecting guns,
What kind of future are we leaving behind for our daughters and sons,
Stop blaming the video games and movies that are around,
Tighten gun control to keep our neighbourhoods safe and sound!
