I Had Never Awakened
To A Pitch Black Scene
There Was Always A Light Somewhere
With The Faintest Gleam
… Except The Time
My Lights Went Out
This Is The Moment
I Wish To Tell About …
Through The Thickest Darkness
And Silence Deafening
It Was So Eerily Quiet
The Darkness Screamed
It Was A ‘Motionless’ Felt
Like Some Surreal Dream
As Tho’ All Around Me
Were My Worst Imaginings
The Air Was Heavy
My Bed Was Hot
But My Flesh Was Chilled
My Nerves Were Shot
My Eyes Were Open
Yet Could Not See
For Darkness Covered
And Blinded Me …
I Couldn’t Get Up
Afraid To Move
I Didn’t Want To Find
My Worst Fears Proved
Paralyzed I Lay
As ‘It’ Slowly Creeped
My Skin Crawled
As Darkness Screeched
I Couldn’t Get Up
Afraid To Move
I Didn’t Want To Find
If Sanity Would Lose
To A Fetid Feeling
A Morbid Dread
This Total Blackness
Suffocated My Head
Was It Just A Nightmare?
Would It Cease?
“No! ” Came The Answer
In The Form Of A Beast!
A Shape-Shifting Fiend
Morphed With The Dark
It’s Fangs And Claws
Retched Razor-Sharp
It Tore My Body
‘Til I Bled
Chewed My Heart Out
Upon My Bed
I Couldn’t Get Up
Afraid To Move
I Didn’t Want To Find
I Was In My Tomb
I Was In Agony
And Disbelief
As I Lay There Wanting
This Monster To Leave
This Macabre Thing
This Unholy Terror
This Vile Creature
From Evil’s Mirror
I Couldn’t Get Up
Afraid To Move
I Didn’t Want To Find
I Was Ghastly Glued
As It Sat On Top
Laughing Maliciously
It Sat Heavy On Top
Licking Bloody Teeth
It Sat ‘Til Dawn
Feasting On Me …
And Still It Went On
For You See …
The Pitch Black Scene
And Silent Screams
The Nightmare Beast
And Paralyzed Theme …
… Is The Hue That Hopelessness Sees
And What Dark Depression Means …

I Couldn’t Get Up
Afraid To Move
I Didn’t Want To Find
‘ This Living Dead Blues ‘
