Voicemail Poem by Agreat Kisser

Voicemail

I am alive,
I breath,
I feel.
My heart beats strong
And I am excited.
I dial
- Connecting -
Joy,
I hear your voice immediately.
Recorded.
I feel a kick in my stomach.
Worse, it did not ring.
My heart sinks.
You do not want me
But your voice is cheerful,
Inviting but untrue.
Unsure, uncertain, I speak.
Will you listen or delet me?
I finish.
My heart cracks for lost friendship.
I die a little more.
I scream your name in my head
but it comes out a whisper.
I press end call
I cry inside.
