Vote For Me Poem by Jennifer Riegler

Vote For Me

Rating: 4.5

They said I should speak and share
Tell them why they should vote for me
It was my biggest nightmare!
A keeper of their life I must promise to be.

Vote for me? Who am I I wondered?
What use will I be, I am an imperfect pearl
A broken pot of clay wounded and battered.
Vote for Him instead, He is God of the world.

But then He whispered sweet words of comfort
He said He would use me, broken as I am
I stood up refreshed; He washed of the dirt
Vote for me please, I said, I now have a plan!

If you vote for me, I promise you will see
God's healing work manifested in me.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This was an assignment I had been given at an Oxford University Online Course on Poetry. I found it very challenging at first. Why would I want anyone to vote for me? But then it did flow. Hope you will like it too.

A lovely poem written with spiritual insight. I like the articulation of the poem and the poet's conviction. FAITH KEEPS THOSE THAT KEEP THE FAITH - Mother Teresa. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
