Vulnerability Poem by Colleen Kathryn Metcalfe

Vulnerability

Letting go of what I know
Or thought I knew to be true.
Trusting and vulnerable,
Innocent as breath.
Sometimes, angry as a storm,
Wild- eyed and twisted.
White- hot emotions winding
Slowly up from blackness
Deep inside my being.
Changing my sky
From blue to burning magenta
Charged with power
Beyond innocence
And far beyond the love
Behind the anger.
Tears come, screaming
Crashing, hot splashes
Of burnt orange.
Relief, yet not quite
Sweet enough.
