Waiting Poem by lauren lanzel

Waiting

I’ll keep staring at the perfect picture of us,
but standing in the reflection is only a memory.
Just run away with my heart and never come back.
Just know that I’ll still be waiting for this to work.
It’s all fallen apart too many times,
but I’ll always be waiting in the rain cuz maybe it’s worth it this time.

You’ve already erased me. Locked the door and thrown away the key,
But I’m still prying at the door. I can’t take much more.
The rose petals have dried and every night I’ve cried,
For what we could’ve had.

Stare me in the eyes and tell me that it’s over.
Maybe this time you’ll lie. I repeat this over in my mind,
But I’ll still be waiting cuz maybe it will work this time.
And when I call your name your answer is “too late”
I can tell your far away by the distance in your voice,
but I’ll still be waiting in the rain cuz maybe it’s worth it this time.

You’ve already erased me. Locked the door and thrown away the key,
But I’m still prying at the door. I can’t take much more.
The rose petals have dried and every night I’ve cried,
For what we could’ve had.

It’s pouring out and I don’t care. You won’t move my feet.
Maybe this time you’ll learn not to talk advantage
Of my heart, just cuz you know I’ll still be waiting
for it to work this time.

You did this to yourself.
Realize that this is what your sons are all about.
And when you come running back with my stolen heart
Just know I’m done waiting cuz,
YOU’RE JUST NOT WORTH IT ANYMORE…

Amazing work. You seem to have found all the desperation in waiting for someone in the way they did. I recently went through a bought of this, and you have made an impact in my life by writing this poem. good work.

Someone that walks away with your heart, and tells you that it's too late, isn't worth your time or your tears, not to mention your feet so firmly planted against the earth. Chin up and open your eyes, you're right this person is not worth it and probably never was. -L.C.
