Walking Poem by Christopher Heart

Walking

Walking the streets, walking in heat
where will you take me my pair of feet.
Looking ahead, looking behind,
no rest for feet, no rest for mind.
Walking...
Walking the sides, walking the beat,
when will I get off you, my feet?
The sun is burning, the dirt is churning…
The road is leading somewhere… not turning…
Walking...
Walking an alley, walking a street,
what will I find, whom will I meet?
Maybe one day I meet some rich lady,
who gonna give me a second look… maybe…
Walking...
Walking the pavement with burning feet,
nothing to drink, nothing to eat…
maybe can find a shady place,
if lady luck shows me some grace.
Walking...
Walking in cold, walking in heat,
walking alone all day this beat.
Where are my buddies of past years
and girls I knew… that's fine, no tears,
Walking...
I'm walking… the best is just to keep on walking,
not let those thoughts to do the stalking.
The heart is sometimes speeding a bit,
sometimes is slowing tac… tac… … tic… tic….
I better hold to my walking stick.
Walking...
I'm walking. Walking damn road, walking to meet
the only pal I got, my fate… the old cheat.
"Buddy, you have been trying long and hard
to bring me down, got my respect in this regard".
Walking...
I'm walking, talking… got to admit
no one can hear me, but you my feet.
No one will answer, no one will care.
God! Can you hear me, from way up there? …
Walking...
Walking… walking…
I got to stop my silly talking.
The sun is setting in the West,
I need to find me some place to rest.
….
I see the place out there, that pavement floor,
away from sight by some back door.
Maybe I find some rest tonight
to get on walking with morning light….
……… ……… ………

What's that? …. The Sun is up! … Why am I down? …
Where am I? I don't know this town!
Who are those people? … Angels? … when did I… How? …
Is that you God? …… Is this it? can I stay here at least for now? …
