Walking Home In The Rain Poem by D.A. Woods

Walking Home In The Rain

Rating: 5.0

When I close my eyes, I will always see the town I love.
With the schools, the streets, my friends and the dirty ways,
the children playing and dogs barking.
That is when I remember you,
as I walk home in the rain.

I see my life as a child going fast forward through time,
the games, the river, the rooftops with all my friends,
the laughter, the tears, the plans we all made.
They have halted now,
as I walk home in the rain.

Through the park, past the fountain, the shortcut to the field,
which took me back inside where the music was singing,
I left it all behind to learn about life.
Now its cold and quiet,
as I walk home in the rain.

Heading to four walls, there is nothing to see, touch or hear,
apart the beating of a shattered, slow broken heart,
which I led it to be destroyed.
Yes it hurts,
as I walk home in the rain.

I am growing tired and fading away and the music is gone,
my soul has been battered and bruised, still standing still,
I can only pray that its all been a dream.
I still can't get home,
I'm just walking home in the rain.
