Walking In The Streets Poem by Troy Tun

Walking In The Streets

walking in the streets
of a place i don’t recognize any more
and blank faces i have never seen…
but i know that i have been
here… before.

i started looking
for
something familiar –
a smile,
a trust,
a hope,
or at least…
an uncensored word…

where have they all gone?

no.
they are still around.
i read in the newspapers
that in doing an open-heart surgery
to an old citizen,
they found inside -
a young bird
that flew away.
they are still there...
somewhere.
