'Want's' Place In The Heart Poem by Ron Giles

'Want's' Place In The Heart

What portion of heart is reserved for that ration?
Of 'Wants' in one’s soul forded meager attention.
Life sustaining they’re not, nor important as food
Yet ache as a hunger when ignored and have pooled

The question of 'Want vs. Need' oh so often debated
Should 'Want' be served status if 'Need' is not sated?
Could 'Need' be just 'Want' in some self serving guise?
Or is no one quite certain yet just state otherwise?

To pray for one’s 'Want', not really selfish or bold
If that 'Want' is for someone, not just chattel or gold
Yet this 'Want' for deep love can lead some to despair
When sought but not coupled for one does not care

Like fragile egg is our 'Want' in search of a nest
Safe haven from logic 'Want' hides in our breast
Our ill equipped heart stretched so thin from this role
For the portion required is much more than the whole
