War And Peace Poem by Joyce Hemsley

War And Peace

How well I remember Neville Chamberlain
in nineteen thirty-eight ~ for his very great
efforts to liase with Adolf Hitler in the
Munich Agreement...As a result, Chamberlain
signed his name and then told the British
people that 'Peace would reign'. The crowds
rejoiced to think war would not be, but alas
he had been deluded and Britain was forced
to fight Hitler's hostility, and so followed the
Second World War.

Freedom
post-war encore.
Friendship from
shore to shore,
but can 'heaven'
last evermore -
peace in our time,
can we be sure?
Oracles say...
it's Impossible.
virtue is worth
fighting for...
and so regain
life's Freedom.
