The long war was over now
There was an eerie silence in the air
And in the hearts of people
All around
People died on either side
Their homes shattered
And families broken
Who ever thought
War can resolve problems
Did a big mistake
Wars don't end in peace
It was too big a price to pay
Just too many faces simply disappeared
And their voices we shall never hear
Flags were raised on either side
And flags were lowered too
As the guns boomed in royal salute
We made martyrs of our fellow men
A sacrifice without any justification
Their names shall be written on stone
On either side
With flowers and candles, we shall bid them good-bye
Medals of honour shall follow posthumously
Even their names may appear in the pages of history
But what difference does all that make
In the name of peace
We shall fight another war.
