War Of The Currents (Historical) Poem by Spock the Vegan

War Of The Currents (Historical)

Rating: 5.0

Edison's Direct Current power worked well
with lamps and motors but could not be transmitted
over long distances, but it he could sell
to New Yorkers, but some were committed
to change to Alternating Current and Edison expel.

Edison's power usage meter worked only with DC
and no practical AC motor was available then.
Tesla expected a prize, but Edison laughed at his plea.
Tesla determined he would win, not if but when.

Nikola Tesla was a genius, of that is no doubt.
He dug ditches for Edison and griped every day.
His invention of an AC motor made Edison pout.
Tesla dreamed of the day of making Edison pay.

He sold several patents to George Westinghouse.
Westinghouse was a business man, simply put.
He fought Edison to distribute AC to every house.
He installed at Niagara, and the bill he did foot.

Tesla was committed to outdo them both.
His dream was to transmit power through the sky.
It was a pipe dream and of that he was loath.
After the power plant burnt down, no more did he try.

It is ironic that this Alternating Current man
would have a company named after him
that comes up with a design and a business plan
to build a Direct Current car that is fast & trim.

Edison's DC lost out to Westinghouse's AC,
And Tesla's health went bad from his misery.
They all were human, and we shouldn't expect
That they would do everything to earn our respect.
