Wartime Love Poem by Barry Pook

Wartime Love

A simple tin,
What a way to begin,
The romance of the year.
While bombs fell and blackouts dwelled,
Hearts were glowing within.

Though apart their hearts entwined,
Separate but together,
Viv and Teresa strangers at first,
Socialised by letter.

When the time came the hearts were merged,
The first glimpse, their feelings surged,
Thier voices heard for the very first time,
I bet Viv thought what a beautiful love of mine.

Teresa's life was complete.
