Waves Of Quicksand Poem by Madison Riffle

Waves Of Quicksand

Stepped out on the waves
They turned to quicksand
No matter how hard I reached
I couldn’t find your hand
Drowning, I was falling
Sinking deeper than I could bear
It crashed all around me
As I was forced to gasp for air
And just when I gave up
And had accepted my fate
You came to my rescue
Decided I was worth being saved
Now I’m coughing up sand
And I can still feel that fear
But you bring me peace and comfort
You remind me that you’re here
So maybe we need to sink
Before we can fully stand
I suppose I should be grateful
For waves of quicksand
They may bring me down
But I know you’ll lift me up
Now those waves of quicksand
Are a reminder of your love
