We Poem by Debbie Kingsmill

We

We were with you when you took your last breath.
It was hard to watch your eyes close in death.

We cried and we prayed giving you to God.
It still seems unreal and were still in a fog.

We thought we'd be ready to let you go.
Moma, we were wrong and we miss you so

We all stood around as your body grew cold
In shock and disbelief at what life unfolds.

Our family has changed now that you are not here
We try to carry on but were all filled with fear.

We gather at your grave, as we struggle through life.
But it will never be the same without a mom, sister or wife
