We Are Another Swamp Poem by Mason Maestro

We Are Another Swamp

We leave the Dem lying cold and undermined
The mourners ring the bells and shed tears for themselves
We are a swamp, another swamp
But you've not stomped another pomp
Will the swamp swallow Trump?
There would be so much there to find
You rake the waters with your eyes
The details you don't recognize
Shovels and pumps, shovels and pumps
Drain the swamp till it dries
You say that life is just a breath
But when the breathing stops
You turn and mutter the word death
And when the pressure drops
You simply stop, come full stop
You emerge from the swampy slop
And discover that you're dead
