We Brothers Poem by Marlene Rashidi

We Brothers

Same daddy!
Same mama!
Same blood!
We grew up together, leaning on each other.
We never let our family's name down, The Browns!
What happened to the promises you promised me, What
happened to the struggles we said, we gone get rid off.
What happened to the life we said we're not gone live after
pops and mom died?
You best believe they're angry with us.
We brothers, we suppose to be there for each other, we're suppose
to stick up for each other. I know pops wanted the best for us, but he gone now! I know mama wanted to see her baby boys grown and done with school, but that's just dead! We brothers!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Growing up in ghetto with no one to lean on, but his brother. School wan never their answer, church was never their choice, life was just hard for those two brothers.
