We Never Really Know Poem by nobomi tshongweni

We Never Really Know

shes the proud mother of her two sons
shes the wife of a well known and respected kinsman
shes also what her in-laws call 'umakoti'

they reign from a mansion built with bricks of hate, regret amd colossal emotions of anger and deceit
its held together by the concrete mixed from the promise they made at the altar; one that is not easy to escape
' till death do us part'

one would say that they are happy from the way they carry themselves
but because the human eye only sees what is projected and not what is felt
they are envied by those who in the honest truth are at a far greater expanse of happiness than they'll ever be...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
just a basic piece of writing that generally has the moral of teaching one to be grateful and satisfied with what you have and not envying what others have been blessed with without knowing the root feelings they have towards whatever it is they have.
