Wedding Poem by Camilla Keenan Koch

Wedding

Rating: 4.5

This moment much more than any other:
A broken man, debilitated,
failing to stand, and
she helps him to his feet

he says: so this is why they make you take vows, eh
she grins and laughs:
once, quiet, abrupt.
Real and unreal.
This is why; she says

And somewhere in that moment
in wondering over -why- they take vows, you lose track of
what -This- is and imagine
imagine that your heart breaks

I could tell you for years,
about that laugh
