Weekend At Home Poem by Way Lenn

Weekend At Home

Moving away from the hearth, haven,
The joy and laughter of a weekend spent.
Ahead the fields surround the base of a mountain
Like a patched quilt and already memories of
Family abide.
By my side my niece shakes her rattle,
Up and down in her hand.
The air rushes through the crack
In the window to fluff and toss my hair.
The movement:
Our car on the road, punching through the valley;
My niece by my side, vibrant with life;
The air circling my head from the window let down.
Moving away from hearth and home to our lives,
Throughout our lives.
