Is national safety more important that personal freedom?
This is like asking if food's more important than shelter
If H2O's more critical than 21% oxygen, id est
If drinking water's more important that fresh air
Obviously living beings need all of that - at the right mix.

What if freedom is taken away in the name of national security? Would that be legitimate? What if it's abandoned in the name of a presumed threat to safety? What the risk assumption's not based on facts, or worse, grounded on misinformation, fake news, with malice intent to manipulate an election outcome.

Most people are no journalists or scientists, don't even like the facts as they present themselves, especially the inconvenient ones, they're used to navigate their way in life based on feeling-good stories, regardless of whether their beloved myths actually happened or its consequences on the long run.
