What Do I Do Now? Poem by William A. Carlson

What Do I Do Now?

What do I do, now that I've told you that I love you?
My life has been filled with such loneliness
as I've wandered from here to there.
The emptiness that was inside me came from
never giving a care

That a lost soul I have been, of that
there is no doubt.
Now the joy that you have brought into my life,
how did this come about?
What do I do, now that I've told you that I love you?

Can you have patience and teach me
what it is to share?
Can you help me to be honest and to you
my soul to bare?
Will you believe that I lived a life of endless searching,
Until the day that I found you, so free your love to share.

Please help me find my way.

Take me by the hand and let us walk along life's path together
Lead me with love and understanding, that I might know
What to do now, that I've told you that I love you.
